Our First Biochar Buy from Restord

We’ve just made our first-ever biochar carbon removal purchase from UK based manufacturer Restord.
This is part of how we’re deploying the Season 1 Climate Pot - and the start of what we expect to be a successful ongoing relationship.
From their base in Cornwall in the UK, Restord is doing something important.
They’re turning waste biomass into biochar - a stable form of carbon that gets locked away for centuries, while also improving the health of the soil. It’s a win-win: permanent carbon removal with local agricultural benefits.
Our initial agreement with them is simple: one tonne of carbon removed, produced and delivered by the end of September this year. The biochar will be made from locally sourced biomass stock and applied on land near Restord’s facility.
Here are the key details:
Type: Biochar
Total Purchase Amount: £200
Service Quantity: 1 metric tonne
Price: £200 per metric tonne of CO₂
Delivery Schedule: 30 September 2025
We first came across Restord through the award-winning Grounded podcast and have been following their journey ever since. They’re earlier-stage than most of the projects we’re looking to support, but that’s exactly why we wanted to back them. We believe it’s vital to accelerate a diverse mix of removal methods and we see huge potential in what Restord is building.
This initial purchase is a small step, but a meaningful one. We’re glad to be part of their story, and hopeful that it’s just the beginning.
“We’re really grateful for Glad’s support and belief in what we’re building. We’re big fans of the innovative approach Glad is taking to grow this industry, and we’re excited to see that impact totaliser go up”.
Tom Previte, Co-Founder of Restord
Restord’s work is certified under the Biochar Carbon Code, a UK-specific standard that ensures traceability, permanence, and proven soil-based co-benefits.
This is just one part of how we’re putting the Season 1 Pot to work. If you’re curious to see where the rest is going, you can check out the Season 1 page for the full breakdown.
