Q&A

This post is part of our Q&A series designed to explain everything you need to know about Glad. We've also answered a lot of the questions that might be on your mind in our Help FAQs.

YOU ASKED:

How does Glad actually clean up the atmosphere?

What projects do you support and why?

What do you mean by greenhouse gas removal?

Great questions. Let’s break it down.

What We’re Trying to Do

The planet has too much pollution in the air, especially greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. These gases trap heat and make the Earth warmer, which causes all kinds of problems.

At Glad, we help remove some of that old pollution from the sky. Think of it like cleaning up a giant invisible mess that’s been building up for years.

How We Do It

We support teams who are working on smart ways to remove greenhouse gases. Some turn it into stone. Others lock it into wood or store it safely underground. Some use nature. Some use tech.

We look for methods that:

  • Work fast

  • Keep the pollution locked away for a long time

  • Can be scaled up to help the whole planet

  • Are based on real science

  • Don’t cause other problems

We also check if they’re good value and whether they match our values. (We like people who care about the planet as much as we do).

Where These Projects Happen

We support great projects all over the world. If we can choose a local one, we do, but what matters most is the impact. The climate is global, so we go where the results are strongest.

What About the Tech Stuff?

We don’t stick to just one way of removing pollution. We support a mix of ideas and test new ones every few months. That way, we can learn fast and keep improving.

We work in three-month seasons. At the end of each one, we review what we’ve done, check how well it worked, and decide what to support next.

If you want to see exactly what we’ve supported so far, check out our Season 1 and Season 2 recap.

And if you’re ready to go deeper, you can read about all the different removal methods we support.
