Q&A

YOU ASKED:

How does Glad actually clean up the atmosphere?

What projects do you support and why?

What do you mean by greenhouse gas removal?

This post is part of our Q&A series designed to explain everything you need to know about Glad. We've also answered a lot of the questions that might be on your mind in our Help FAQs.

Our approach to climate cleanup

Our focus is on helping to scale a range of greenhouse gas removal technologies. We take a science-led, tech-enabled approach to greenhouse gas removal, supporting forward-thinking, early-stage companies that we believe urgently need to be at scale.

We place emphasis on permanence, additionality, and speed of impact. We evaluate every solution against a proprietary Impact Framework, reviewing the following key attributes: Rapidity; Permanence; Scalability Potential; Impact Measurement; Integrity; Efficiency; Tech-Readiness; Science Maturity; Values Alignment; Innovation Appeal; Cost Efficiency; Additional Benefits.

While we aim to support local solutions when possible, our priority is always on effectiveness and impact. Climate change is a global issue, so we focus on solutions that deliver the quickest, most impactful results, no matter where they’re located.

Our Removal Methods page provides more detail about the specific methods we currently support.

We operate in three-month seasons, which allows us to regularly evaluate the methods and suppliers we use.

Here’s a breakdown of what removals we bought in Season 1 and Season 2.
